Rev Robert J. Merritt, 88, of Sedalia Community passed peacefully at United Hospital Center on November 13, 2019. He was born on June 23, 1931 on Cherry Camp, Harrison County, son of the late Clemen Gail and Jesse Lavina Baker Merritt. He was preceded in death by his wife, Delores Jean Cutright Merritt on February 20, 2013. Bob is survived by their seven children, Jean Strosnider (Randy) of Bridgeport, Jo Devericks (Michael) of Clarksburg, Jane Perine (Bobby) Of Harrisville, Jennifer Merritt of West Union, Josie Hardesty (Greg) of Columbia, MD, Jim Merritt (Jane) of West Union, and Jeff Merritt (Luanne) of Salem; grandchildren Joshua Merritt, Amanda Gump, Scott Strosnider, Corey Devericks, Bobbi Jo Ridenour, Tracy Messenger, Stephanie Black, Katie Devericks, Jason Perine, Rachelle Coffey, Rebecca Prunty, Shilo Merritt, Dakota Merritt, Levi Merritt, Justin Dotson, Maria Dotson, Lindsi Harper, Benjamin Merritt, and Brandon Hardesty; thirty seven great-grandchildren. Bob was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who loved spending time with his family. He served his country in the US Army National Guard serving in the Korean Conflict. He retired from Hope Gas and was a Pastor for over forty years in Harrison and Doddridge Counties and several churches.
