Emmajean Virginia (Swiger) Stamm

Emmajean V. Stamm (Jean), age 89, of Salem, WV, passed away suddenly on November 9th, 2017 at St. Barbara’s Memorial Nursing Home, following an extended illness.

She was preceded in death by her parents (Floyd and Lena Swiger), two brothers (James Cunningham and Floyd Swiger Jr.) and her husband of forty-four years, (H.W. “Nick” Stamm). 

She is survived by two daughters (Lola Stamm, PhD and partner Lee Tuckwiller, PhD of Chapel Hill, NC; Amy Ataei, MA and husband Ali Ataei, PhD of San Diego, CA) and a son, (Steven Craig Stamm, PhD and wife Kim of Morgantown, WV), two grandchildren (Lauren Barone and husband John Mike and Nicholas Stamm of Morgantown, WV) and one brother (William Swiger of Salem, WV).

Mrs. Stamm was a member of the Salem Baptist Church.  She served for many years as a volunteer at the Historic Train Depot in Salem until the Depot burned in November 2008.  Mrs. Stamm was a devoted mother, grandmother and friend and a very accomplished baker and cook.

Family will receive friends at Greathouse Funeral Home, 1999 W. Main Street, Salem, on Wednesday, November 15th 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:00 noon with the Rev. Roger Fontaine, presiding. Interment will follow in the K of P Memorial Park Cemetery.
